Job Description

The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust would like to invite applications for this10PA, substantive post of Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine based in Cheshire and Merseyside, to join our existing team of 7 Consultants in Rehabilitation Medicine. The post will predominantly be based in one of the Cheshire and Merseyside Rehabilitation Units (The Walton Centre, Broadgreen Hospital, St Helens Hospital, Clatterbridge Hospital) and the successful applicant will have an inpatient and outpatient caseload.

In order to be considered for the position of Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine it is essential for candidates to have clinical training & experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Rehabilitation Medicine, be eligible for entry on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview.

Person Specification Qualifications and training
  • MRCP, FRCS or equivalent
  • Full registration with GMC Register or within 6 months of expected date of CST in rehabilit
  • MD or PhD
  • Attendance at appropriate professional courses
Clinical Specialty skills
  • Broad training in Rehabilitation medicine
  • Expertise in a branch rehabilitation
  • Appropriate number and quality of research publications
Skills and Knowledge
  • Evidence of multidisciplinary working
  • Ability to organise and prioritise complex demands
  • Familiarity with the NSF for long term conditions, the Mental Capacity Act and clinical governance issues in relation to rehabilitation
  • Management training
Experience
  • Must have worked in an multidisciplinary inpatient complex rehabilitation unit
  • Must have experience of assessment of patients with complex rehabilitation needs
  • Evidence of innovative service developments
  • Some previous experience of trauma work or general medicine
