Specialty Doctor in Adult Psychiatry in Eating Disorders Part-Time 10PA's, Fixed Term -6 months
This is a 6 months fixed term full time post, working within the outpatient eating disorder service, with potential to extend and work in other parts of the wider eating disorder service. The post holder will work alongside a Consultant Psychiatrist in Eating Disorders. The post is also supported by a specialist MDT. The post provides an opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and experience in the assessment and management of eating disorders across the full spectrum of diagnoses and severity.

Main duties of the jobThe post holder will provide day to day psychiatric and medical assessment and management of adults with eating disorders receiving care in the outpatient service. Leadership of MDT risk assessment and management is central to the role. They will contribute to the weekly outpatient meeting and clinical forum, and the twice weekly assessment meeting. The post holder will contribute to MHA work, including the preparation of reports, with supervision from the Consultant. They will also provide medical cover for other doctors across the service (inpatient, day patient, outpatient), giving experience of the full spectrum of eating disorder presentations, and the broad range of treatment modalities available.

Job responsibilities- To provide psychiatric and medical assessments of adults referred to the eating disorder service, including prescribing and monitoring medication and supporting delivery of services according to NICE guidelines policies.
- To undertake physical examinations and order investigations as required.
- The post-holder will join other members of the team to provide psychiatric input including assessment and treatment of comorbid mental health disorders.
- To provide medical and psychiatric review of outpatients.
- To contribute to collection of Clinical Outcome data across the service.
- To liaise with statutory and non-statutory agencies concerning the treatment and management of patients.
- Consultation to other members of the multidisciplinary team, including with respect to the management of risk.
- Actively participate in weekly MDT
- Good understanding of Clinical Governance requirements and ensuring the service meets standards.
- Preparing assessment reports and other clinical documentation and correspondence as necessary, in accordance with trust policy.
- Liaison input to medical wards as needed and sustain good working relationships and effective MEED pathways with acute hospitals in our catchment area.
- To provide cross cover with medical colleagues within the whole ED service.
- Primary Medical Degree
- Full GMC Registration
- GMC Licence to Practise
- Section 12 MHA Approved.
- A minimum of 4 years postgraduate training (or equivalent), with at least 2 years in psychiatry
