Posted 2 hours 7 minutes ago by Admiral Group Plc
This role sits at the heart of a modern, value-adding second line team. We are seeking a Senior Credit Risk Manager to help build a data-led, nimble and commercially-aware 2nd line credit risk function that delivers insight and effective challenge while enabling strong, sustainable growth.
The role holder will take ownership of the Credit Risk Management Framework (CRMF), lead the development of meaningful risk reporting and dashboards, and ensure credit decision-making remains robust as the business expands rapidly across personal loans, motor finance and mortgage products. You will also lead our team of talented credit risk professionals.
This is a senior role requiring strong technical judgement, pace, and the confidence to influence decision-making at critical growth points.
Key Responsibilities- Provide independent second line oversight and effective challenge of credit strategies, underwriting standards, decisioning frameworks and portfolio performance across personal loans, motor finance and mortgage products.
- Own, design and continuously evolve the Credit Risk Management Framework, ensuring it supports strong decision-making, clear governance and proportionate control in a high-growth environment.
- Lead the development of insightful, data-driven credit risk reporting and dashboards that highlight trends, emerging risks and forward-looking indicators, rather than static MI.
- Use data and analysis to deliver timely, value-adding insight and challenge to senior management and risk committees, influencing strategic and tactical decisions.
- Act as a key second line partner for new and evolving products, providing early risk input to product design, credit policy and decisioning to ensure robust controls from launch.
- Ensure credit risk remains within appetite during periods of rapid growth, identifying emerging risks, concentrations and control weaknesses and driving appropriate escalation and mitigation.
- Deliver targeted credit risk assurance activity, including thematic reviews and deep dives focused on areas of highest change or risk.
- Support effective risk governance through high-quality committee papers, clear articulation of risk trade-offs and practical recommendations.
- Build strong, constructive relationships with first line teams while maintaining independent judgement and challenge.
- Line management of a team of credit risk professionals.
- Significant experience in credit risk roles with strong second line, independent oversight or governance accountability.
- Proven ability to design, own and operate credit risk frameworks in growing or changing environments.
- Strong data and analytical capability, with experience shaping dashboards, MI and insight for senior audiences.
- Experience across consumer and secured lending, ideally including personal loans, motor finance and mortgages.
- Confidence operating in fast-paced, high-growth settings with evolving products and strategies.
- Strong judgement, communication skills and the ability to influence senior decision-makers.
- Experience within a non-bank, specialist lender or fintech environment.
- Exposure to credit model governance, scorecard oversight or portfolio stress testing.
