We are seeking an experienced, forward-thinking, and highly motivated Radiology Services Manager to lead our Radiology Department. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the delivery of a safe, efficient, patient-centred imaging service while supporting the strategic development of radiology services across the hospital.

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Radiology Services Manager will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver exceptional patient outcomes and an excellent patient experience.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Service Management
  • Provide professional and operational leadership for all Radiology services and staff.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of excellence, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead workforce planning, recruitment, retention, rostering, performance management, and staff development initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive working environment that supports employee engagement and professional growth.
Clinical Governance & Quality
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, professional standards, accreditation requirements, and hospital policies.
  • Lead quality assurance programmes, audits, service reviews, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support departmental risk management activities, incident investigation, and corrective action planning.
  • Ensure the department maintains the highest standards of patient safety, radiation safety, and clinical governance. Radiology quality assurance processes and radiation safety controls form key components of the hospital's governance framework.
Operational Management
  • Manage departmental resources to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services.
  • Monitor activity levels, capacity, patient flow, waiting times, and key performance indicators.
  • Lead service planning and implementation of new technology, equipment, and service developments.
  • Contribute to budgeting, capital planning, and business case development.
Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with HIQA standards, Radiation Protection requirements, EPA regulations, CORU standards, and all relevant healthcare legislation.
  • Work closely with hospital stakeholders to ensure adherence to radiation protection and quality assurance programmes. References within Galway Clinic's safety framework include radiology equipment maintenance, quality assurance, competency standards, and radiation governance processes.
Candidate Requirements
  • BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Current registration with CORU.
  • Minimum 7 years post-registration experience, including significant management or leadership experience within a radiology environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex healthcare services.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Radiation Protection legislation and regulations
    • Clinical governance and risk management
    • Quality assurance systems
    • Healthcare regulatory requirements
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organisational, and change management skills.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Healthcare Management, Leadership, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Experience within an acute hospital environment.
  • Experience leading service expansion, digital transformation, or strategic projects.
