The role involves providing a high standard of administrative support to the Radiology department, with a focus on MRI services. Working in a busy environment, the role requires excellent organisation skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage complex appointment schedules, prioritising urgent referrals and contributing to the achievement of national waiting time targets. The post holder will ensure accurate data management and provide a responsive administrative service within a busy radiology department.
Main duties of the job- Work as part of a team to provide a high quality, patient focused administrative service.
- Organise and prioritise daily tasks to meet the demands of a busy and fast paced environment.
- Proactively manage appointment schedules, maximising capacity and minimising delays, ensuring optimal use of scanner capacity.
- Act as the first point of contact for patients and service users attending the MRI/Radiology department.
- Receive and process imaging referrals, ensuring all required information is complete and accurate.
- Maintain and update patient records on relevant hospital systems, ensuring a high level of data accuracy.
- Ensure all incoming calls, emails and enquiries are answered in a professional and timely manner.
- Liaise with radiographers, consultants and other internal and external departments to support the smooth running of the service.
- Ensure all documentation is handled in accordance with confidentiality and data protection policies.
- Recognise and elevate issues where appropriate, supporting the continuous improvement of the service.

Person Specification- 2 years or more admin/clerical experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken English
- Confident keyboard and IT skills (Outlook, Word and Microsoft Office)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied workload in a busy environment
- Ability to multitask and stay professional in a busy environment
- Ability to work as part of a team and work independently without supervision
- Adaptable, with the ability to quickly become proficient in new tasks and systems
- To be well presented and professional with a good fitness level
- Willingness to be flexible to meet service needs
- Previous admin experience within a hospital or GP setting
- Medical terminology
- Familiarity with MRI, CT or general radiology workflows
- Knowledge of hospital computer systems (Soliton, Cerner, ICs)
- Experience of dealing with patients in a sensitive or clinical environment
- Understanding of patient confidentiality (GDPR / NHS data rules)
- 2 or more GCSE's or equivalent
