Mechanical Maintenance Technician

An established manufacturing facility based in Co. Galway is seeking to add a Mechanical Maintenance Technician / Fitter to its engineering team. This is a well-run production site with a strong focus on operational excellence, and the successful candidate will play a central role in keeping the plant running at peak mechanical efficiency.
Working across a rotating shift pattern, you'll be hands-on with preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement, working closely with the wider engineering and production teams to support day-to-day operations, new product trials, and ongoing efficiency initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Carry out assigned preventative maintenance duties to a high standard within each shift.
- Contribute directly to achieving the site's mechanical efficiency KPIs.
- Identify potential breakdown risks proactively and support root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Complete all work in line with company safety policies and relevant regulations.
- Support production, new product development, and trial activity from a maintenance perspective.
- Carry out equipment modifications and put forward ideas that improve efficiency and performance.
- Get involved in continuous improvement projects across the site.
- Help train and upskill other members of the engineering and maintenance team.
- Take part in cross-functional project work as required.
- Keep departmental budget in mind when planning and carrying out maintenance tasks.
Criteria
- A recognised trade qualification and/or relevant engineering diploma.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a maintenance environment.
- Solid working knowledge of industrial machinery and equipment.
- Practical, hands-on experience maintaining manufacturing equipment.
- An understanding of production processes and how maintenance supports them.
- Strong technical ability paired with good problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with strong overall PC competency.
