Job Description

Providing 24/7 round-the-clock support while living in the service user's home to ensure total wellbeing.

Rates of Pay
  • Training: £12.71 per hour
  • Probationary period: Up to £800 per week, £110 per day weekdays, £125 per day weekends.
  • After probationary period: up to £900 per week, £120 per day weekdays, £150 per day weekends.

Working Hours
  • Employees must work any public holidays that fall on their normal working days.
  • Live-in care staff must be available from 7:00am to 10:00pm.
  • Live-in care staff must remain available overnight and should not be woken more than twice during the night.
Location
  • Care services are delivered to service users in their own homes.
  • Travel may be required across Abingdon, Didcot, surrounding villages, or other locations as needed to support service users and business needs.
Purpose of Position
  • Care services follow a personalised care plan tailored to each service user.
  • Duties include providing personal care and supporting household care management.
  • Support workers must respect and uphold each service user's dignity, privacy, and independence at all times.
Main Duties
  • Provide person-centred personal and practical care for individuals with a range of illnesses and disabilities.
  • Assist with daily routines including getting up, dressing, washing, bathing, shaving, oral care, and toileting.
  • Support with prescribed medication only.
  • Assist with mobility, physical disabilities, incontinence care, and use of aids or equipment.
  • Promote independence, dignity, diversity, and equal opportunities.
  • Provide end-of-life care support where required.
  • Encourage mental and physical wellbeing through conversation and meaningful activities.
  • Offer companionship and emotional support.
  • Make and change beds, tidy rooms, carry out light cleaning, and empty commodes.
  • Launder clothing as required.
  • Prepare light meals, set tables, serve food, assist with feeding, and clean up afterward.
  • Support with pet care, including feeding and walking.
  • Collect pensions and medication, and assist with shopping.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals on behalf of the service user when appropriate.
  • Provide support to families and fellow support workers.
  • Treat service users and staff with respect at all times.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Follow managers' instructions and adhere to individual care plans.
  • Communicate effectively, respecting service users' choices and preferred communication methods.
  • Wear uniform, ID badge, and required PPE during working hours.
  • Attend scheduled visits on time and obtain accurate timesheet signatures.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and up-to-date care and administrative records.
  • Submit required paperwork to the office promptly.
  • Complete holiday requests with appropriate notice.
  • Document each visit clearly and professionally, ensuring accuracy and sensitivity.
  • Handle service users' finances in line with company policy and maintain accurate records.
  • Follow health and safety and infection control policies at all times.
  • Monitor work areas to ensure they are safe and hazard-free.
  • Report and record all accidents, incidents, sickness, and absences.
  • Report concerns, changes in health, or safeguarding issues to management immediately.
  • Maintain confidentiality and report any breaches or discrimination.
  • Adhere to company policy on prohibited duties and limits of responsibility.
  • Inform managers of service concerns or suggestions for improvement.
  • Participate in required training, supervision, and development meetings.
  • Attend regular performance reviews as scheduled.
  • Perform any other duties reasonably required.
