Job Description

Job Title: Formulation Scientist

Type: Permanent

Location: Greater Manchester

Salary: £24,000 - £27,000 DOE

Hours: Monday - Friday (days) finishing at either 17:00 or 18.00

Additional Benefits: Company pension, 21 days + BH hols, parking onsite

We are working exclusively with a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing company to appoint a Formulation Scientist. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a growing company and receive extensive training while progressing within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking formulation development duties to support R&D
  • Conducting validation, optimization and scale up studies
  • Planning and scheduling work to meet KPIs
  • Reviewing customer enquiries to create bespoke formulations
  • Conducting data checks for quality and consistency
  • Performing method development, verification/validation of existing and new products
  • Supporting deviations, CAPA, change control, complaints, and recalls
  • Providing auditing support
  • Ensuring targets are met through continuous development and coaching of staff
  • Developing liquid, solid, and semi-solid formulations for oral and topical products
  • Sourcing new raw materials and determining their quality
  • Writing technical documentation including batch manufacturing records and technical reports
  • Involved in validation activities such as DQ, IQ, OQ, PQ and PV
  • Generating protocols and reports
  • Reviewing existing processes to ensure compliance and streamlining

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in a relevant scientific discipline
  • Previous formulation experience in a pharmaceutical setting is highly desirable
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role within a GMP accredited organization
  • Strong IT skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Problem-solving, risk analysis, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines
  • Motivation, accuracy, discretion, and helpfulness
