An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated Band 6 Research Nurse/Midwife/Allied Health Professional (AHP)/Clinical Research Practitioner (CRP). It is full time (1.0 WTE), with a permanent contract. This post will be based at Joseph's Well, Leeds in the Leeds Clinical Genomics Service but the team holds face to face research clinics across its regional area, currently at various sites within Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust and Hull (Hull is potentially twice per month), so you would be expected to be able to travel to and support these clinics.
The Clinical Genetics team delivers high quality clinical care to patients during their participation in both observational and commercial interventional studies.
The post holder will contribute actively to the conduct, coordination, and delivery of the Clinical Genetics Research Portfolio working effectively with the extended multidisciplinary team. The main tasks are: patient recruitment, completion of study assessments and maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records. In addition to being responsible for ensuring that high standards of clinical care planning, delivery, safety, and patient satisfaction are to a very high standard, compliance with Trust policy, study protocol requirements, local and national guidance and legislation is required.

Main duties of the jobWe are looking to recruit a proactive and self motivated individual with a keen interest in research to work within the Clinical Genetics Research team.
The post holder will be required to work alongside industry partners, the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Research Delivery Network (RDN) Yorkshire and Humber (Y&H) and colleagues in neighbouring establishments, attending regional and national meetings as required. The post holder will contribute actively to the conduct, coordination and delivery of the Clinical Genetics Research portfolio, under the leadership of the Research Team Manager, working alongside a dedicated team of Nurses, AHPs and CTAs.
The post holder will be working within a busy clinical research department with a large portfolio of studies covering a range of conditions. Studies include those funded by the NIHR, sample collection initiatives and commercial interventional trials in Huntington's Disease, Cancer Genetics and many other rare genetic conditions.

You will have excellent communication, time management and organisational skills, with a sound clinical background. Genetics research experience is desirable. A commitment to personal professional development as well as supportive development of team members and the service is required.

Working effectively with the immediate and broader multidisciplinary team (MDT), being responsible for ensuring that high standards of clinical care planning, delivery, safety and patient satisfaction is to a very high standard, compliant with Trust policy, study protocol requirements, local and national guidance and legislation.
The post holder will support the Senior Research Nurse/Midwife/AHP, Principal Investigators and associated multidisciplinary colleagues in the planning, scheduling, conduct, recruitment, patient care, support and data collection required for all studies within the department. They will be responsible for developing their own clinical practice, maintaining competencies (related to the research portfolio) and where appropriate taking delegated responsibility for the clinical elements of studies in line with Trust policies and study protocols.
Working effectively and proactively with agreed external agencies and collaborative partners, the individual will adhere to agreed study pathways and processes to derive accurate and robust data capture, and ensure pharmacovigilance is maintained.
Person Specification Experience- Experience of computer databases and administration

- Registered Nurse (Level 1 or 2) (RN Adult for adult areas and RN Child for children's areas), Midwife or HCPC AHP or Clinical Research Practitioner registered (including registration to AHCS)
