Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Lancashire Office-Based with Site Visits Salary + Vehicle + Fuel Card

Are you an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking for real responsibility, structured progression, and a genuinely supportive team?

Our client is a well-established civil engineering specialist contractor delivering infrastructure and street lighting projects. The Role

You will support the commercial delivery of civil engineering projects while developing into a fully fledged Quantity Surveyor.

  • Assist with project commercial management.
  • Complete measurements and take-offs from drawings.
  • Prepare monthly applications for payment.
  • Manage Compensation Events and Early Warnings (NEC).
  • Obtain supplier and subcontract quotations.
  • Maintain commercial records and variation logs.
  • Liaise with site teams and attend site meetings.
  • Progress toward managing your own projects with Senior QS support.
About You

We're looking for someone who is strong academically and commercially aware, with a solid understanding of QS fundamentals - but who can also operate confidently on site and build rapport with operational teams.

  • 1-3 years' experience in a QS role (construction, civils, infrastructure or similar).
  • Good grasp of measurement, valuations, and variation management.
  • NEC exposure preferred (training provided).
  • Able to read drawings and confident using Excel.
  • Detail oriented and professional, yet personable and able to work well with site operatives and field teams.
  • Strong communication skills and a team first attitude.
  • Full UK driving licence.

This role would suit someone who takes their work seriously, has high standards, but can also integrate well with site teams and contribute positively to the wider team culture.
