We are now looking for an experienced HGV Class 1 Yard Controller/Shunter Driver to join our team.

Responsibilities

As an HGV Class 1 Yard Controller/Shunter Driver, your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering goods in line with the manifest sheet.
• Obtaining customer signatures as proof of delivery.
• Completing daily vehicle and trailer defect reports as required.
• Carrying out vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with DVSA regulations.
• Communicating effectively with transport office staff, colleagues, and external customers.
• Working as part of a team and remaining flexible to meet the needs of the business.
• Complying with Health and Safety procedures, Safe Systems of Work, and all relevant legislation.
• Participating in the company's annual appraisal process.
• Unloading trailers safely and efficiently, with full consideration of Health and Safety requirements.
• Carrying out occasional handballing duties in line with Manual Handling Guidelines.
• Ensuring vehicles are loaded safely and goods are secured appropriately.
• Ensuring vehicles are parked securely at all times.
• Keeping vehicles clean and tidy.
• Working on your own initiative and maintaining a clear understanding of RTD and EU Drivers' Hours Regulations.
• Understanding and upholding your responsibilities in relation to the company's Operator Licence.

Requirements

• Class C+E Licence.
• Valid Driver CPC.
• Digital Tachograph Card.
• Fewer than 6 penalty points on your Class 1 Licence.
• Minimum of 2 years' commercial Class 1 driving experience.
• Experience working as part of a team.
• Tug experience or licence.
