Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Stainless Steel Fabrication Workshop in Waterford.

This is a key leadership role responsible for managing the safe, efficient, and quality driven operation of the Stainless Steel Workshop, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsibility for the smooth running of the Stainless Steel Workshop and its employees.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out safely and in compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate workshop activities from project commencement through to completion, including labour, materials, equipment, and resources.
  • Monitor schedules and workflow to ensure deadlines are achieved while maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Review drawings and work packages to ensure accurate execution of work.
  • Implement Lean principles to maximise productivity, eliminate waste, and improve workshop efficiency.
  • Maintain all workshop records and documentation to ensure compliance with quality standards, certifications, and customer requirements.
  • Manage workforce planning, productivity, attendance, performance, and quality of workmanship.
  • Identify and coordinate training requirements for welders, fabricators, polishers, and workshop personnel.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, safety, quality, and operational excellence within the workshop.
  • Utilise Weltec's Safety Observation Reporting and Safety Intervention Systems, implementing corrective actions and preventative measures as required.
  • Ensure workshop opening and closing procedures are followed and that good housekeeping standards are maintained at all times.
  • Attend management meetings and provide updates on production progress, resource requirements, and key workshop metrics.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a stainless steel fabrication workshop is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, welding techniques, pipework fabrication, and quality requirements for hygienic and pharmaceutical applications.
  • Ability to interpret fabrication drawings, isos, and engineering specs.
  • Strong understanding of workshop EHS requirements and safe systems of work.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects, resources, and personnel from start to finish.
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures, weld traceability, material certification, and inspection requirements advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
