Wastewater Operator/Operative (Network / Network Maintenance & Repair)

The RoleThe Asset Operations function forms the cornerstone of service delivery to customers, protecting the environment and meeting regulatory standards while managing operational expenditure. This role focuses on the operation, inspection, maintenance and repair of wastewater network and treatment assets across the national area.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Support the operation of the wastewater network to deliver consistent customer service and carry out routine maintenance activities. Activities include assisting with sewer surveys, identifying heavy infiltration, performing investigations, clearing blockages and responding to alarms.
- Regularly check chemical dosing measures at pumping stations and support Wastewater Compliance and Sampling teams with operational sampling, new mains, burst repairs and failure reporting.
- Inform customers about issues and resolutions, investigate and follow up on escalated complaints or local representative queries to manage risk associated with public health and compliance.
- Support Customer teams (Key Account Managers and Customer Service) with any customer issues or works that impact service delivery.
- Promptly record and accurately report relevant information using technology systems, including logging investigations, raising work orders, and updating H&S records and inventory management.
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures, perform risk assessments, use PPE, and comply with Construction Regulations.
- Operate Uisce Éireann vehicles and machinery responsibly, ensuring stock levels are sufficient, and may be required to operate a 3.5 tonne / 4.2 tonne vehicle.
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business.
- Promote and deliver health and safety commitments, reinforcing positive behaviours and meeting the highest industry standards.
- Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme and other organisational objectives.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Secondary level education or equivalent work experience.
- Full, clean, and valid Irish category B driving licence (minimum requirement); additional licence categories are advantageous.
- Experience working within a strong health and safety culture.
- Previous labouring or construction experience is an advantage.
- Sound knowledge and experience of wastewater network infrastructure and operations (preferred).
- Basic awareness or understanding of wastewater network processes.
- Experience using IT systems.
- Strong problem solving and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in potentially hazardous environments (hazardous chemicals, sewage, confined spaces, etc.) with a completed occupational health assessment.
- Literacy skills.
- Experience working within Water Services or other utilities is an advantage.
Successful candidates will be placed on the salary band based on skills and experience with the starting position minimum €36,640.
