Volunteering with NHS BordersNHS Borders is at the heart of our local community and values the contribution that volunteers make to supporting our services. Our volunteers bring a wide range of skills, experiences, and personal qualities that help enhance the care and support provided to patients, families, and staff across the Borders.
Volunteering is a rewarding way to give back to your community while making a real difference in the lives of others. It also offers opportunities to develop new skills, build confidence, meet new people, and improve your own health and wellbeing.
We offer a variety of volunteering opportunities and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. Current volunteer roles include:
- Patient Mealtime Volunteers - supporting patients during mealtimes on hospital wards.
- Patient Experience Feedback Volunteers - gathering feedback to help improve services and patient care.
- Breastfeeding Peer Supporters - providing encouragement and support to new parents.
- Spiritual Care Ward Visitors - offering companionship and emotional support to patients.
- Public Involvement Partnership Group Volunteers - helping to shape services through community engagement and service development.
