Role: Trainee Solicitor - Private Client Team

What Your Traineeship Will Involve
Over the course of your 2-year traineeship, you will:
- Assist with the drafting and preparation of Wills, Powers of Attorney and Trusts
- Support Solicitors in the ongoing administration of estates and trusts
- Liaise directly with clients and their families in sensitive, often life-changing circumstances
- Help manage client affairs during their lifetime and following death
- Conduct legal research, attend training sessions, and prepare legal documentation
- Handle a small caseload under close supervision while gaining exposure to increasingly complex matters
- Be supported by experienced colleagues, including Solicitors, Associates, and supervising Partners, as well as our Legal Support teams
This is a role for a thoughtful, proactive individual who values building strong relationships and providing excellent client service. You'll need a high level of discretion, empathy, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicating with clients and third parties via phone, email, and in person
- Preparing legal documents and supporting the administration of estates and trusts
- Maintaining accurate client records using our online case management system
- Attending internal training and development sessions
- Conducting legal research and contributing to team knowledge
- Supporting solicitors and case handlers in day-to-day matters
What We're Looking For
- 2:1 or above in Scots Law LLB (or accelerated degree)
- Diploma in Legal Practice
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence dealing with sensitive matters and client contact
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Previous experience in a legal, client-facing, or administrative role
- Familiarity with legal case management systems
- Salary in line with Law Society of Scotland recommended rates
- 23 days annual leave plus 8 public holidays (including office closure over Christmas/New Year)
