Reports to: Director of Exceptional Needs, Occupational Therapist and/or appropriate administrative personnel

Terms of Employment: 180 Days (student days), no more than 27.5 hours per week, per their lane in the Classified Handbook, paid for out of the Federal Part B Special Education Grant

SUMMARY

To assist special education students with performing in the classroom to their maximal potential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide services directly to students within the school setting as directed by the student's IEP.
  • Provide consultation to teachers regarding students' IEP services in public and non-public school settings.
  • Determine equipment needs for positioning or sensory processing within the classroom.
  • Meet with Occupational Therapist on a regular basis for supervision and to discuss caseload issues/concerns.
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with school personnel, students and parents.
  • Promote good public relations for the School Corporation and community.
  • Teach by example by exemplifying good moral conduct.
  • Demonstrates professional growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • COTA License
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, correspondences, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to apply general mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community.
