Overview

Team Leader Radiotherapy Radiographer B7 joining the Pre Treatment team. We are looking for enthusiastic radiographers with a focus on delivering radiotherapy services, team working and service development. The Royal Surrey Cancer Centre provides patient-centred care and ongoing professional development, with access to Varian ETHOS, Halcyon and TrueBeam systems across two radiotherapy centres.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is to undertake radiotherapy interventions at a team leader level to the highest professional and technical standards, collaborating with Medical, Radiographic, Physics and Administrative colleagues within the Radiotherapy team.

As a key element of the role, the post holder will provide information, education, practical and emotional support to patients and carers during their radiotherapy episode.

The post could be based at either site; both permanent and fixed term contracts are available.

Job responsibilities

As a team leader pre-treatment radiotherapy radiographer, you will be under the supervision of the Operational Manager and will prepare radiotherapy using highly specialist equipment. You will participate in all aspects of radiotherapy activities with a focus on managing your area of expertise. You will provide information, education, practical and emotional support to patients and carers during their radiotherapy episode.

The Radiotherapy Department is based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford and operates a satellite service from East Surrey Hospital in Redhill. This post is based at East Surrey Hospital, Redhill, and will require attendance at both sites. Your wellbeing is important to us, and we offer opportunities for CPD and a 9-day fortnight working pattern, with a fixed day off every two weeks.

Qualifications
  • MSc / BSc Radiotherapy/Therapeutic Radiography or DCR (T)
  • HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of continuous personal, professional and academic development
Knowledge
  • Experience as a Band 6 Therapy Radiographer with progression to a Band 7 post
  • Experience in radiotherapy pre-treatment equipment and techniques
  • Experience collaborating with other staff groups outside Radiotherapy
  • Experience with computerised department record and verify systems
  • Participation in clinical governance activities
  • Project management related to service improvement
