The roles will work closely together, alongside the Team Manager providing collaborative support to each other.

The successful candidates will each manage a dedicated team of regulatory professionals and support staff, covering all Licensing functions, which includes taxi and private hire licensing, Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, animal licensing and street trading. Your role will be pivotal in identifying service priorities, ensuring these are translated into practical plans for action that will be delivered by the team.

You will be responsible for the effective enforcement of licensing legislation, with the purpose of securing compliance and protecting the health, safety, and well being of residents, consumers, and businesses across Solihull.

You will work collaboratively and partner with local, regional, and national organisations to ensure regulation is consistent, efficient, and coordinated.

What you'll bring:
  • A relevant qualification in licensing or ability to demonstrate significant experience in licensing or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in regulatory advice, compliance, and enforcement, particularly within licensing and regulatory practice.
  • Proven experience of conducting inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with licensing legislation.
  • Experience of managing a team and problem solving in partnership contexts.
  • Ability to manage complex enquiries, resolve conflicts, and deliver effective solutions.
  • A collaborative approach, with excellent relationship building and negotiation skills across a range of stakeholders.
  • A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle, to enable you to move around sites in the Borough where much of the team's work is delivered.
What we offer:
  • A competitive salary.
  • A range of flexible working options.
  • Generous annual leave plus the option to buy up to 10 extra days.
  • A Flexitime scheme.
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme - a 24 hour independent, free and confidential advice and support service.
  • Family and carer friendly policies.
  • Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Exclusive employee benefits: staff discounts, subsidised travel passes, Cycle 2 Work Scheme.

In return, you will be encouraged to further develop your skills and experience through a range of training and development opportunities, within a supportive and forward thinking environment.
