Teaching Assistant (SEND) - September 2026 Start

Outstanding Primary School Bolton Area Long-Term Opportunity

An Outstanding Primary School in the Wigan area is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Teaching Assistant to provide support for a new pupil joining the school in September.

This rewarding role will involve supporting a bright and engaging pupil with an EHCP and a diagnosis of Autism. The pupil has no behavioural difficulties and is expected to access learning successfully with the right support and encouragement in place. The focus of the role will be helping to ensure a positive transition into school life, whilst promoting confidence, independence and engagement within the classroom. The role is initially for the full academic year, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.

The Role

  • Provide dedicated support to a pupil with Autism and an EHCP
  • Support the pupil's transition into a new school environment
  • Build a positive, trusting relationship that enables the pupil to thrive
  • Work closely with class teachers, SEND staff and parents
  • Encourage independence whilst providing appropriate levels of support
  • Help the pupil access learning and participate fully in school life

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting children with Autism and/or additional needs
  • Patient, nurturing and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to provide consistency and reassurance
  • Committed to achieving the best outcomes for every child
  • Experience within a primary school setting is desirable
