Job Description
SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary School (Chingford, E4)

A secondary school in the Chingford (E4) area is looking to appoint a resilient and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour. This is a highly rewarding role suited to someone confident in building strong relationships, maintaining clear boundaries, and helping young people positively re engage with their education.

Role Details
  • Full time position - Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
  • Start date: ASAP
Key Responsibilities
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support
  • Managing and de escalating challenging behaviour
  • Encouraging emotional regulation and positive classroom engagement
  • Working collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff
The Ideal Candidate Will
  • Have experience supporting students with SEMH and behavioural needs
  • Be calm, patient, and consistent - firm but fair in their approach
  • Build trust and act as a positive role model
  • Be genuinely committed to making a difference
