The Vacancy

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and well-qualified Mathematics teacher, for maternity cover, 2 days per week. The successful applicant will be committed to enabling students to realise their highest academic potential.
They will be an excellent classroom practitioner who will convey an enthusiasm for the subject to the students they teach. It is envisaged the successful candidate will continue to develop and raise the profile of Mathematics at RBAI, both internally and externally. Candidates for this post must have a good honours degree in Mathematics and teaching experience at key stages 3 and 4; they must have already demonstrated very good organisational and administrative skills.

Major areas of responsibility will include:
• To maintain and develop effective teaching of Mathematics at GCSE and KS3.

• To monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and standards of pupils' achievements and set targets for improvement

• High quality teaching and assessment, up to and including GCSE.

Essential Criteria
1. Qualified teacher status as recognised by the Department of Education for Northern Ireland and registered with GTCNI.

2. An Honours degree 2.2 or above in Mathematics or alternative Maths based degree such as Engineering or equivalent BEd.

3. Experience of teaching Mathematics up to and including GCSE, within the past 5 years.

Desirable Criteria
Proven record of significant contribution to the extra-curricular work of the school.
