Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic individual who will bring skill, enthusiasm and passion to inspire our students. The successful candidate will teach students from KS3 through to A Level, using an appropriate range of strategies to meet the needs of all learners. They will also contribute to the school's pastoral system as a tutor and help run co curricular clubs, activities and trips.

Teaching Responsibilities

The Chemistry department is staffed by two full time and one part time teacher, supported by two full time science technicians. Each teacher has a well equipped laboratory with an interactive LCD screen. Key teaching duties include:

  • Delivering Science lessons to Year 7 (4 40 minute sessions) and Year 8 (2 40 minute sessions per discipline).
  • Managing GCSE chemistry in Year 9 (2 40 minute sessions) following the AQA Chemistry Course.
  • Guiding students through Year 10 decisions between Separate Sciences and AQA Combined Science Trilogy.
  • Teaching Chemistry for the AQA specification at A Level, with 8 40 minute lessons per week.
Co Curricular Engagement

Students compete in the Surrey SATRO competition, RSC Top of the Bench, and Chemistry Olympiads. The successful candidate will support and expand these opportunities.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK, have subject knowledge up to A Level, and meet CPAC requirements for practical work. A strong commitment to safeguarding and child welfare is required. Enhanced DBS disclosure and employment references will be required.
