Job Description

Are you passionate about teaching Media and Film and inspiring the next generation of creative thinkers? Do you want to help students develop the analytical, creative and critical skills needed to succeed in higher education and the creative industries?

East Sussex College Group is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Lecturer in Media and Film to join our A Level team at Lewes. The Lewes campus contains our flagship A Level department and plays a central role in shaping the academic identity of the College Group.

You will teach motivated students who are developing both their academic understanding and creative practice in Media and Film. Working within a supportive and collaborative team, you will deliver high-quality lessons that challenge students intellectually while helping them become confident, independent learners who are well prepared for the next stage of their education or employment.

This role would suit an experienced teacher or an NQT embarking on their first year of teaching.

Responsibilities
  • Teach A Level Media Studies and Film Studies, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons
  • Support students to develop critical analysis, independent study habits and strong examination performance
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, assessment and quality improvement activities within the department
  • Monitor student progress and provide effective feedback that supports improvement and achievement
Qualifications and experience
  • Strong subject knowledge in Media Studies, Film Studies or a closely related discipline
  • A commitment to high academic standards and supporting students to achieve their potential
  • Experience of teaching or working with young people (ideally within post-16 education)
  • A relevant degree and a teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)

Salary and hours

Annual salary: Circa £30,000 - £42,000 (subject to qualifications, skills and experience)

Full time - 37 Hours/52.14 Weeks
