About the Role

As our Stores Supervisor, you'll take the lead in coordinating the day to day operations of our busy Stores Department. You will line manage a team of Storeperson's, ensuring efficient receipting, distribution and stock management processes across the organisation.
Working closely with the Hospital Product & Inventory Manager, you'll support the maintenance of accurate stock levels, uphold strong governance practices, and ensure all goods are handled in line with NHS Golden Jubilee Standing Financial Instructions.
In this varied role, you will:

  • Provide supervision, training and daily support to the Stores Team.
  • Oversee the safe custody, receipting, ordering and distribution of stock and non stock items.
  • Ensure timely, accurate deliveries to wards and departments.
  • Maintain high standards of record keeping, housekeeping and stock control.
  • Liaise with internal departments, suppliers and national distribution services to resolve queries and maintain effective supply chain practices.
  • Play a key role in identifying improvements and supporting a culture of efficiency, compliance and excellent customer service.

This is a hands on, fast paced role in a service that is essential to hospital operations. Your work will directly contribute to patient safety and service continuity.

About You

You will be an organised, dependable and proactive team leader with a strong understanding of stores operations and the ability to keep a busy, high demand service running efficiently. You'll bring confidence, clarity and a commitment to maintaining excellent standards in safety, accuracy and customer service across all aspects of stock control and distribution.
You will bring:

  • Strong knowledge of computerised Stock Management Systems and confidence using Windows based applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast paced, customer focused environment.
  • Good organisational and management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and supervise daily workloads.
  • High levels of literacy, numeracy and practical skills, ensuring accuracy at all stages of the process.
  • A responsible and economical approach to the use of materials, equipment and resources.
  • An understanding of departmental risk assessments and safe operating procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of stock control practices, including delivery notes, picking notes and replenishment processes.
  • A solid understanding of moving and handling procedures and safe manual handling practices.
