Staff Nurse - Urology Outpatients RLH/Aintree

We are looking for several Band 5 Nurses who would like a career within the Urology Specialty. The post holder would ideally have specialty experience in Urology Diagnostics and Treatments and show a desire to develop within the area.
Urology Diagnostics, Treatments and Outpatients is a growing Nurse Led Service which includes Nurse led diagnostics, Benign and Stone diagnostics, Cancer diagnostics and treatments and andrology services. This will also include communicating treatment plans with patients and primary care. If you are passionate about providing the highest standards of care to patients in this speciality and feel you would develop and enhance within if an experienced and supportive multidisciplinary team, that continually puts patient-centred care at the forefront.

Job responsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities: Participate in maintaining a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for all patients and carers and maintain agreed standards of nursing care. Determine nursing priorities and plan patient care. Inform the nurse in charge when changes in circumstances may affect patient care. Maintain nursing records in accordance with the NMC and Trust guidelines. Maintain and improve quality of patient care through contribution to the Essence of Care and clinical benchmarking within the unit. Ensure due regard is given to customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients. Provide information and support to patients/carers, and ensure all those involved in the care are aware of changes in the patient's condition. Assist in the safe custody, checking and administration of drugs. Develop the clinical knowledge and skills to care for acutely ill patients admitted via both planned and unplanned routes. Undertake expanded practice, under supervision, to optimise patient care and in accordance with ward/department and Trust policies. Involve patients and carers in the planning and delivery of care. Ensure effective lines of communication within the ward/department and multidisciplinary team. Management/Leadership Responsibilities: Ensure that all equipment is checked and maintained in safe working order. Manage allocated workload and provide supervision of less experienced staff. Practice and promote safe and efficient use of all resources. Report all incidents, accidents and complaints to the unit manager and complete Trust incident forms in accordance with risk management policies. Ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures. Ensure own standards are maintained in relation to clinical governance. Provide leadership in the monitoring of standards of care. Act as shift coordinator in rotation with other nurses in the team. The post holder shall, as necessary, provide cover for and undertake duties of absent colleagues. The post holder shall follow all the policies and procedures of the organisation.
Person Specification Qualifications- Registered Nurse, current NMC registration
- Diploma in Nursing
- Post registration experience and successful completion of band 5 foundation gateway competencies
- Experience within relevant clinical setting
- Evidence of maintaining a clinical learning environment
- Evidence of working with students
- Recent acute hospital experience including as a student nurse
- Knowledge of current nursing issues and clinical governance
- Demonstrates awareness of own limitations
- Ability to organise workload and delegate tasks appropriately
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to support less experienced staff
- Ability to problem solve
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Basic IT skills, including e-mail and word processing
