Cancer Prehabilitation Project Manager

This is an exciting fixed term secondment opportunity as a Cancer Prehabilitation Project Manager from a Nursing or AHP background to support the development of sustainable Prehabilitation services for cancer patients including those requiring major cancer surgery. The post holder will work closely with key clinicians within multidisciplinary teams across the Trust, our community partners and Northern Cancer Alliance colleagues regionally to develop a model of prehabilitation fit for the future, which is able to support a number of patients and encompasses a number of cancer specialities.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside staff within cancer services, to support the development of a targeted prehabilitation service offer for a number of cancer specialities. This will build upon existing work to develop local targeted pathways for specific tumour groups, and will incorporate a regional universal cancer prehabilitation pathway, developed by Northern Cancer Alliance colleagues. The post holder will also be required to work with relevant partner organisations to maximise service delivery and sustainability relevant to patient need. They will link regularly with Northern Cancer Alliance colleagues to share project outcomes, together with the senior leadership team within Cancer Services.

Job responsibilities

To work in partnership with the Northern Cancer Care Alliance, Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust and other relevant stakeholders to lead a project to identify the feasibility of developing and delivering a model of prehabilitation within Gateshead.

To scope, develop, manage and at times deliver elements of a prehabilitation service across the complexities of secondary and primary care.

To provide regular project reports with the aim to inform future business cases to support on-going funding and development of the chosen model (s) of prehabilitation across the Trust.

Have overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of the project including change management and benefits realisation.

Person Specification Knowledge

• First Degree in a healthcare profession
• Masters level qualification/or working towards a Master's degree or relevant equivalent experience
• Current HCPC/NMC Registration
• Demonstrable evidence of leading/managing projects in a healthcare setting
• Knowledge of cancer/prehab pathways
• Evidence of professional development e.g. Portfolio
• PRINCE2 practitioner or equivalent professional project management qualification

Skills

• Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work autonomously and show a problem solving approach
