Staff Nurse - Plastics Outpatients

Are you looking for a new challenge to make use of excellent wound care knowledge and skills? Would you like to work in a well renowned regional centre for Plastic Surgery? Then you could join the Plastic Surgery Outpatients team at Wythenshawe Hospital. We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse ideally with experience in Plastic Surgery or other relevant wound care setting to cover maternity leave for 12 months. This is a challenging but rewarding role, therefore you need to be enthusiastic and eager to learn and develop yourself. You will be joining a large, dedicated multi disciplinary team who are devoted to improving patient outcomes in this specialism.

Main duties of the job

Do you have excellent communication and problem solving skills, a friendly and approachable nature and a willingness to learn new skills? Then consider joining the team in the Plastics Outpatient department within the Directorate of Burns and Plastics working across Wythenshawe, Withington and Altrincham Hospitals.

Qualifications
  • UK fully registered NMC Registered Nurse (Adult)
  • Diploma in Nursing
  • Evidence of Level 6 Study
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of current nursing issues
  • Knowledge of clinical governance
  • Evidence of IT/ Word Processing skills
  • sound knowledge of wound care, vac and pico dressings
  • Knowledge of Plastic Surgery
Training & Experience
  • Experience of working on own and as part of a team
  • Ability to supervise and support junior staff
  • Evidence of teaching and assessing skills/ability
  • Awareness of clinical audit
  • Experience in wound care in other relevant setting
  • Evidence of undertaking a mentor/preceptor role
  • Experience in Plastic Surgery nursing
  • Experience in outpatient settings

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Proven ability to problem solve
  • Demonstrates awareness of own limitations
