Job Description

The Adult Speech and Language Therapy Community Team have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dynamic Band 5 Therapist to join our friendly and supportive team in a part time (27 hours a week), fixed term post for 12 months.

The Adult community service provides assessment and treatment of patients with a wide range of neurological conditions in domiciliary, outpatient and community hospital settings across Conwy and Denbighshire. The team also provide regular training to registered nurses and carers as well as feed into specific MDT clinics e.g. MS, Movement Disorders.

The successful candidate must be able to travel independently between sites.

Main duties of the job

This post is Fixed term/Secondment for 12 months to cover Maternity Leave.

  • You will work with Team Leaders and colleagues in adult community Speech and Language Therapy services to ensure equity, efficiency and dynamic service delivery.
  • You will have the opportunity to develop the skills required to work independently with adults who have acquired communication and swallowing disorders.
  • With support, you will organise, plan and prioritise your own workload, and develop appropriate strategies for caseload management.
  • You will be able to deliver comprehensive communication and/or dysphagia management plans in the context of multi-disciplinary working.
  • You will support placements for Speech & Language Therapy students.
  • You will supervise and provide safe delegation to non-qualified staff, including Speech and Language Therapy assistants.
  • You will be involved in projects which contribute to service development.
Qualifications and experience
  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree and HCPC registration. Final year students may also apply.
  • Experience in working independently with adults who have acquired communication and swallowing disorders is desirable.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload, and deliver comprehensive management plans in a multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Previous experience working within a community or outpatient setting is an advantage.

£31,516 to £38,364 a year per annum, pro rata.
