Main duties of the jobThis fixed term specialty doctor post is based at our purpose built integrated sexual health clinic in the grounds of the QEQM Hospital in Margate. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive sexual health services to residents of east Kent, Medway and East Sussex. This role supplements the existing 7 WTE GUM/HIV Consultants and 4 WTE specialty doctors across the region.
The post involves diagnosis and management of sexually transmitted infections, provision of all methods of contraception-including LARC methods-and support of nursing colleagues. Training will be provided to achieve competence in all aspects of sexual health where required. Additional duties may include telephone triage and provision of contraception and simple STI treatments following virtual consultations.

Person Specification Qualifications- MB, BS or equivalent medical qualification
- Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC
- MRCP, MRCOG or MRCGP
- Evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competencies in a relevant specialty and likelihood of achievement of ST2/CT2 competencies in the area of speciality
- STIF Intermediate or Advanced competency
- Diploma of the College of Sexual & Reproductive Health (CFSRH)
- Letters of competence in intrauterine techniques
- Letters of competence in subdermal implants
- Experience working in an allied speciality such as O&G, urology, dermatology or general practice for up to 3 years
- Understanding of other professionals' roles and partnership working
- Evidence of relevant professional development in the last 12 months
- Demonstrated ability to develop partnerships that achieve outcomes across organisational boundaries, including statutory bodies and community organisations
- Knowledge of BASHH guidelines and CSRH contraception guidance
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in sexual health services
- Experience in a sexual health clinic
- Up to date clinical practice in sexual health
- Microscopy skills relevant to GUM
- Experience in all methods of contraception
- Evidence of research and/or audit publications in peer reviewed journals
- Knowledge of community sexual health service models
- Understanding of public health approaches to STI prevention
- Excellent clinical skills within the specialty area
- Ability to work effectively with people at all organisational levels, including in socially deprived areas
- Excellent communication of complex, sensitive information to individuals and groups
- Proficiency with IT programmes including PowerPoint, Word and Excel
- Highly developed facilitation skills
- Application of sound clinical knowledge within the specialty area
- Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk, knowing when to seek help and prioritising clinical need
- Ability to work effectively in diverse clinical settings required by the role
- Ability to undertake microscopy relevant to STIs
- Provision of LARC contraception including implants and intrauterine contraception
