Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

NHS GREATER GLASGOW & CLYDE POST: Specialty Doctor - UROLOGY

BASE: QUEEN ELIZABETH UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

Applications are invited for this post, which will provide key inputs to the ENT Service in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and support delivery of waiting list targets. The post is available immediately and is a permanent position.

The post is suitable for an experienced doctor in ENT who wishes to gain further exposure to otolaryngology. Should the appointee wish to pursue the CESR route, this would be encouraged and fully supported by the department.

A further aim of the candidate should be the development of independent research, aimed at publication in peer reviewed journals, as well as ongoing undergraduate and post-graduate medical education.

The successful candidate is expected to be experienced enough to contribute to the smooth running of all aspects of the ENT department and will join a team of ENT surgeons delivering elective, complex cancer, emergency and outpatient services across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

SPECIALTY DOCTOR

must meet the following Criteria:

  • shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council (GMC); and
  • shall have completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a less than full-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme or specialty registrar locum appointment for training (LAT); or
  • shall have equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas.
