Job summaryWe are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic and highly motivated Band 7 clinical pharmacists to join our trust bank team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
You will be working on wards alongside various clinical teams ward to assist in the delivery of a comprehensive pharmacy service and to provide operational support to the department. This will involve delivering high quality services to a range of patients and specialities: in acute settings, community teams, and intermediary care.
Main duties of the jobTo assist in the delivery of a comprehensive pharmacy service and to provide operational support to the department. This includes ward-based clinical pharmacy services, working to specific clinical objectives depending on the focus of the service and patient cohort. Many services offer experience of supervising and mentoring of juniors, attending ward rounds, clinics and delivering multi-disciplinary induction and teaching.

Job responsibilitiesWe are looking for enthusiastic pharmacists with demonstrable competencies in hospital pharmacy practice, excellent communication skills and a demonstrable commitment to pharmaceutical care.

Person Specification Qualifications and Education- Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Completion of a postgraduate certificate in clinical pharmacy practice (or equivalent)
- Successful completion of short courses to the equivalent of a Post-graduate Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable ability to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines for patients in medical and surgical specialities
- Previous evaluated experience of mentorship and training skills (ie formal feedback)
- To have undertaken clinical audit
- Successful completion of a competence based dispensary rotation
- Demonstrable knowledge, skills and ability to undertake clinical screening of prescriptions
- Demonstrable ability to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines for patients in another speciality
- Demonstrable use of clinical audit to improve practice
- Successful completion of a competence based technical services rotation, including TPN services
- Demonstrable knowledge, skills and ability to undertake clinical screening and checking of aseptic preparations
- Demonstrable experience of managing patients independently e.g. anticoagulation clinics.
- Demonstrable skills and ability to provide pharmaceutical care to general medical patients.
- Demonstrable knowledge, skills and ability to provide pharmaceutical care to general surgical patients.
- Demonstrates the ability to appropriately identify and prioritise clinical work
- Demonstrable ability to organise self in order to ensure efficient use of time.
- Demonstrable ability to meet set targets
- Demonstrable ability to implement changes in own area that impacts on others
- The ability and willingness to deputise for senior staff while recognising limitations of experience and ability
- Ability to work autonomously
- Demonstrable skills and ability to provide pharmaceutical care to a specialist patient group
- Demonstrable experience of clinically influencing at senior level e.g. ward rounds.
- Ability to evaluate quality of own work
- The ability to manage identified risks
- Ability to influence junior medical staff
- Recognises the value of other pharmacy team members and works effectively as part of this team.
- Recognises the value of other health care professionals and works effectively as part of this team.
- Recognises limitations of own practice and refers to seniors as appropriate
