Junior Sous Chef - Another Place, The Lake Kitchen

We're looking for a Junior Sous Chef to join our team. You'll be passionate about good food and have the opportunity to work across two thriving kitchens, learning from our exceptional Head Chef.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Sous Chef with smooth kitchen operation.
  • Prepare, cook, and portion all dishes to high standards of quality and quantity.
  • Assist with team management, support and train chefs as required.
  • Ensure efficient stock procurement, accurate receipt handling, and proper storage.
  • Keep working areas clean and maintain a safe environment for the team and guests, following health and safety policy.
  • Report for duty punctually, wearing the correct uniform and any required protective clothing, and maintain specified grooming standards.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties requested.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Knowledgeable of ingredients and able to use them creatively.
  • Team player with a belief in collaboration.
  • Previous experience working in a busy kitchen.
  • Effective stock rotation skills to avoid waste.
  • Creative menu development, creation, and implementation.
  • Ability to train, guide and support Chef de Partie level chefs and kitchen porters.
  • Excellent timekeeping for food monitoring and quality assurance.
  • Previous similar establishment experience.
  • Strong knowledge of core culinary techniques.
  • Flexible attitude to working hours and variable shift patterns.
  • Interest and passion for the food industry.
  • Strong awareness of catering trends.
  • International culinary knowledge across various cuisine types (desirable).
  • Financial awareness.
  • IT/computer proficiency.
  • Responsible and calm under pressure.
  • Passion for our team and the greater environment.
