Job Description
Social Worker - Family Support and Safeguarding (Central Oxford)

You will manage a caseload of children and families, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs met. Your assessment work will be guided by the Family Support and Safeguarding Workbook modules and a strengths based approach. You will prepare and submit written reports-including child protection conference and legal care proceeding reports-and maintain accurate, ICT based case records. You will investigate allegations of harm or neglect under s47 Children Act 1989 where required.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct child and family assessments and develop support plans.
  • Prepare and deliver child protection conference reports and legal case documents.
  • Maintain accurate case records using ICT and record activity against key performance management data.
  • Travel to visit clients and attend meetings across a wide area, often on short notice.
  • Collaborate with local agencies and partners, chairing meetings as needed.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Social Worker with experience in child, family and safeguarding work.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, guidance and policy, including the Children Act 1989/2004 and Working Together.
  • Experience using motivational interviewing and the cycle of change is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and support a team.
