Eden Brown Synergy is partnering with a Private Fostering Service in North London to recruit a permanent Service Manager. This is a high-level leadership role in fostering services, ideal for experienced social care professionals passionate about child welfare, fostering, and statutory compliance.
About the Role
As Service Manager - Fostering, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for a private fostering agency. You will:
- Lead and develop fostering services for children and young people aged 0-18.
- Ensure full compliance with Fostering Regulations 2011, National Minimum Standards (NMS), and Ofsted inspections.
- Support the set-up and management of a new specialist fostering service.
- Oversee safeguarding, child protection, and permanency planning across the agency.
- Manage a multi-disciplinary team including social workers, support staff, and administrators.
This is a chance to shape and influence a high-quality private fostering service while working closely with Local Authorities and key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day management of a fostering agency, including policy development and service delivery.
- Supervise staff teams: Registered Manager, Social Workers, Social Work Assistants, and Administrative Staff.
- Act as Safeguarding Lead, ensuring robust child protection measures are in place.
- Ensure compliance with Ofsted, Fostering Regulations 2011, and NMS standards.
- Oversee recruitment, retention, and supervision of foster carers, including Form F assessments.
- Manage performance monitoring, audits, complaints, and reporting systems.
- Liaise with Local Authorities, Ofsted, and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality placements.
- Ensure accurate record keeping for children, foster carers, and staff.
- Contribute to budget management and financial oversight, ensuring timely payments to foster carers.
- Promote equality, diversity, and non-discriminatory practices across the service.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
- Proven management experience in fostering services or children's social care.
- Strong leadership skills: supervision, recruitment, staff development, and performance management.
- In-depth knowledge of Fostering Regulations 2011, National Minimum Standards, and Ofsted requirements.
- Experience in safeguarding, child protection, and complex permanency planning.
- Ability to liaise effectively with Local Authorities, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management or willingness to complete.
