Job Description

Are you an experienced Research Assistant with molecular biology or biochemistry expertise? This is a fantastic opportunity to join an innovative scientific organisation in London, supporting cutting-edge technology development projects across multiple R&D teams. Proclinical is looking for a Senior Research Assistant to contribute to laboratory-based research, routine production work, and development activities that directly support innovative diagnostic technology platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development of new molecular biology and biochemistry modules and help integrate them into diagnostic workflows.
  • Complete routine production activities for teams working in Surface Chemistry, Clonal Amplification, and/or Sequencing, delivering high-quality output to strict timelines.
  • Execute laboratory experiments efficiently and accurately, following guidance from project leads.
  • Record detailed experimental descriptions and carry out data analysis to a high standard.
  • Identify and scale technical issues, participating in troubleshooting and problem solving discussions.
  • Maintain and manage all laboratory documentation in line with ISO 13485 and internal quality standards.
  • Contribute ideas and insights toward resolving technical challenges within ongoing experiments.
  • Carry out additional scientific duties as required.
Key Skills and Requirements
  • BSc in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Strong practical experience with standard molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (e.g., PCR). This should come from working or a placement, and not just studies.
  • The ability to perform, troubleshoot and analyse laboratory experiments with consistent accuracy.
  • Experience using electronic lab notebooks for experimental documentation.
  • A positive attitude toward routine and occasionally repetitive work, ensuring reliable and consistent output.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to generate high-quality experimental data.
  • Knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows (preferred but not essential).
Why Apply?
  • Work at the forefront of scientific innovation
  • Join a highly skilled, collaborative R&D team
  • Contribute directly to the development of innovative and impactful diagnostic technology
  • Opportunity to expand experience across molecular biology, biochemistry and sequencing workflows.

If you're passionate about hands on laboratory science and want to make an impact within a fast moving R&D environment, we'd love to hear from you.
