Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Belmarsh, a category APrison located in South East London

Hours

The site currently offers a 24-hour service and shift patterns

Mon- Sunday shifts will include:

7am 7pm or 8am -4pm with 1 weekend in a 5 week period

This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to £55,086 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Responsible for assessment and ongoing management of our patients mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
  • Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision to; Provide outstanding evidence based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
  • Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patients care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.
  • Element of emergency response for patients in crisis.

  • Occupational Therapist or Social Worker - HCPC / NMC Registered
  • Experience of working within mental health settings, developing knowledge and understanding of this patient group
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Experience of working collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders in a multi-disciplinary environment

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
