SENDCO (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator)

We are seeking a dedicated SENDCO to join a vibrant primary school in Tower Hamlets on a maternity leave cover basis. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring they achieve their full potential.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Oversee the day-to-day operation of the school's SEN policy.
• Liaise with and advise fellow teachers on best practices for SEN.
• Manage the SEN team of teaching assistants and support staff.
• Coordinate provision for children with SEN, including developing and implementing individual education plans (IEPs).
• Monitor and evaluate the progress of pupils with SEN through regular assessments and reviews.
• Work closely with parents/carers to ensure they are actively involved in their child's education and support.
• Liaise with external agencies, including educational psychologists and health care professionals, to ensure appropriate support is in place.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a recognised SEN qualification or extensive experience in SEN.
• Proven experience as a SENDCO or in a similar role within a primary school setting.
• Strong understanding of the SEN code of practice and legislation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, parents, and external agencies.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask.
