Job Description
SENDCO (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator)
- Location: Tower Hamlets, London
- Job Type: Maternity Leave Cover, Part-time (3-4 days a week)

We are seeking a dedicated SENDCO to join a vibrant primary school in Tower Hamlets on a maternity leave cover basis. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring they achieve their full potential.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the school's SEN policy.
- Liaise with and advise fellow teachers on best practices for SEN.
- Manage the SEN team of teaching assistants and support staff.
- Coordinate provision for children with SEN, including developing and implementing individual education plans (IEPs).
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of pupils with SEN through regular assessments and reviews.
- Work closely with parents/carers to ensure they are actively involved in their child's education and support.
- Liaise with external agencies, including educational psychologists and health care professionals, to ensure appropriate support is in place.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a recognised SEN qualification or extensive experience in SEN.
- Proven experience as a SENDCO or in a similar role within a primary school setting.
- Strong understanding of the SEN code of practice and legislation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, parents, and external agencies.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask.
