SEND Teaching Assistants Needed
Posted 2 hours 50 minutes ago by Reed
I'm currently looking for compassionate, reliable, and committed SEND Teaching Assistants to support a variety of primary schools across the Wakefield area. If you're driven by a desire to help children overcome barriers, build confidence, and access learning in a way that works for them, this could be an incredibly rewarding next step in your career.
About the RoleAs a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with pupils who require additional support due to special educational needs or disabilities. You'll play a key role in helping children feel understood, valued, and capable - both inside and outside the classroom. Your work will be varied, meaningful, and absolutely vital to each child's progress.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing tailored one-to-one or small-group support
- Supporting children with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, social and emotional needs, and learning delays
- Helping pupils regulate emotions, develop social skills, and build confidence
- Implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
- Assisting teachers with adapting lessons and resources to suit individual needs
- Using strategies such as visual aids, sensory tools, and alternative communication methods
- Helping maintain a calm, structured, and nurturing environment
- Supporting children during transitions, playtimes, and daily routines
I would love to speak with you if you:
- Have experience working with children with SEND (school-based experience is ideal but not essential)
- Are patient, empathetic, and consistent in your approach
- Can remain calm under pressure and respond positively to challenges
- Understand (or are willing to learn about) different SEND needs and supportive strategies
- Communicate clearly and work well within a team
- Are passionate about helping every child feel included and capable
When you work with me through Reed Education, you'll benefit from:
- Competitive pay that reflects your experience and skill set
- Access to specialist training and development opportunities
- Ongoing support from an experienced and approachable team
- Flexible working options to suit your lifestyle
- Wellbeing support, including access to an Employee Assistance Programme
- The opportunity to make a genuine, life-changing difference to children across Wakefield
We pride ourselves on supporting both our schools and our candidates with honesty, professionalism, and a personal touch. I'll be here to guide you through the process, understand your strengths, and match you with a school where you can truly thrive.
If you're passionate about SEND support and ready to make a meaningful impact in Wakefield schools, I'd really like to hear from you. Apply today and let's begin the next step in your career in education.
