Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with complex SEND needs?

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex learning difficulties, autism, non-verbal communication needs, and behaviours that challenge within a specialist educational setting.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with vulnerable young people, helping them develop independence, communication skills, and confidence in a safe and nurturing environment.

The Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of complex SEND requirements.
  • Work with students who are non-verbal and utilise alternative communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, visual timetables, and communication aids.
  • Support pupils with challenging behaviour, using positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Assist with personal care where required.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver tailored support plans.
  • Promote a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with complex SEND needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Experienced working with non-verbal individuals and implementing communication strategies.
  • Confident managing behaviours that challenge in a calm, patient, and consistent manner.
  • Resilient, empathetic, and committed to achieving positive outcomes for young people.
  • Experience within a specialist school, SEND provision, care setting, or similar environment is highly desirable.
  • Team Teach, MAPA, or other positive behaviour management training would be advantageous.

What We Offer:

  • A supportive and welcoming school environment.
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children with additional needs.
  • Competitive rates of pay.
