Our client, a leading educational institution in Bedford, Bedfordshire, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Part-time SEN Tutor to join their dedicated team. As a Part-time SEN Tutor, you will be responsible for providing tailored support and instruction to students with special educational needs, ensuring they achieve their full academic potential.
In this role, you will be working closely with our client's team of educators, therapists, and specialists to develop and implement individualised learning plans that cater to the unique needs of each student. Your primary focus will be to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that fosters intellectual and personal growth, while also addressing any social, emotional, or behavioural challenges that the students may face.
The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of various learning styles and teaching methodologies, as well as a genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs. You will be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and parents/carers.
The salary for this part-time position ranges from £21.30 to £25 per hour, depending on your qualifications and experience. The role will require you to work a flexible schedule, with the potential for both daytime and evening shifts, ensuring that you can provide the necessary support to our students.

- Develop and implement individualised learning plans for students with special educational needs, such as autism, dyslexia, ADHD, or other learning difficulties.
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions, tailoring your teaching strategies to the unique needs and learning styles of each student.
- Collaborate with the wider educational team, including teachers, therapists, and specialists, to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to supporting the students.
- Monitor student progress, maintain detailed records, and regularly communicate with parents/carers to provide updates and feedback.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with the latest teaching methodologies and best practices for supporting students with special educational needs.
- Contribute to the overall development and improvement of the school's SEN programme, offering suggestions and ideas for enhancing the quality of support provided.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes student engagement and academic growth.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Proven experience working as a tutor or teacher in a special educational needs setting
- Excellent knowledge of various learning difficulties and the strategies and techniques used to support students with special educational needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with students, parents/carers, and colleagues
- Proficient in creating and implementing individualised learning plans and monitoring student progress
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Enthusiasm, patience, and a genuine passion for working with students with special educational needs
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant educational policies, legislation, and best practices
