Job Description

Send Teaching Assistant - Primary SEND Teaching Assistant

Middlesbrough

£95-£110 per day Full-time long-term (part-time available)

Role Overview

Provide targeted support to pupils across KS1 and KS2, working closely with teachers, SENCOs and specialist staff. The role involves delivering 1:1 support, small group interventions, and supporting children with a range of needs including autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, mental health needs, emotional regulation, school avoidance, speech and language needs, and behavioural challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality SEND support in a primary school setting
  • Support pupils to access the curriculum and engage in learning
  • Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation
  • Support pupils with communication and speech & language needs
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
  • Promote a calm, inclusive, and nurturing environment
Requirements
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant SEN qualification (preferred)
  • Experience working in SEND or SEN settings, SRPs, or mainstream primary schools
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Patient, resilient, and child-centred approach
  • Ability to support pupils with complex needs, including behavioural and SEMH needs
