Job Description

We are committed to delivering outstanding patient care through cutting-edge diagnostics and treatment. Our Sleep Medicine Department plays a crucial role in diagnosing and managing sleep disorders, supporting patients to improve their quality of life. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Band 6a Sleep Physiologist to join our multidisciplinary team. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career within a supportive and innovative NHS Trust.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the sleep service, ensuring high standards of patient care and service delivery within the respiratory service framework
  • Manage CPAP setup, troubleshooting, and patient support
  • Oversee and mentor junior physiologists
  • Conduct sleep clinics, reporting, and triage sessions
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the respiratory service to enhance patient outcomes
Person Specification Qualifications
  • Either: Degree in a Biological subject and ARTP Part 1 and Part 2 or equivalent qualification. Or: HTEC in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement. Relevant experience as a Band 5 in Lung Function.
Experience
  • Understanding and experience in running CPAP clinics.
  • Experience of teaching small groups using various presentation media
Knowledge
  • Knowledge /experience of basic sleep physiology and monitoring techniques (oximetry, respiratory studies and CPAP therapy).
Skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Access.
  • To be well-organised and able to prioritise own workload and that of others.
  • Evidence of having managed a laboratory.
  • Evidence of implementing innovation or having had responsibility for part of service delivery.
  • Have knowledge /experience of advanced sleep physiology and monitoring techniques.
  • Previous experience of Hospital software.
Other
  • Able to work effectively as an individual and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Have sufficient ability to perform the duties of the post with any aids and adaptations
  • Willing to be flexible and adapt to new responsibilities and working practice.
  • Experience of teaching colleagues and patients in physiological monitoring techniques
