Reinsurance Binder Technician - Team Lead

This is a varied leadership opportunity within a Binding Authority-focused Client Services function. The role combines hands on technical expertise with team oversight responsibilities, supporting the delivery of high quality post placement services across a portfolio of reinsurance binder business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Head of Client Services and aligned business unit in delivering operational objectives
  • Assist with team initiatives, projects, goal setting and performance management processes
  • Act as the senior technical referral point across all post placement binder activities including (but not limited to):
    • FDO
    • Premium Bordereaux
    • Claims Bordereaux
    • Large Loss / Complex Claims
    • Loss Funds
    • Settlement of accounts
  • Deliver an efficient, accurate and responsive service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure transparency and consistency in all tasks within a professional, client focused service model
  • Provide day to day oversight of the Binder Technician team, including:
    • Workflow monitoring and reporting
    • Workload allocation
    • Holiday and absence oversight
    • Ongoing guidance and technical support
  • Support the creation, implementation and monitoring of service standards, including trend analysis to proactively identify and resolve issues
  • Contribute to the resolution of technical and operational matters across the team in accordance with agreed internal procedures
  • Maintain effective working relationships across the business to ensure a collaborative and efficient client service environment
  • Ensure all activities are compliant with internal standards, procedures and regulatory obligations
  • Monitor and resolve operational queries in a timely manner
  • Maintain proficiency across core IT systems, including OpenTWINS
  • Build strong partnership relationships with defined clients, business units and regions
  • Promote continuous improvement by implementing and reviewing processes, controls and procedures
Candidate Profile

Successful applicants will ideally have prior reinsurance experience within a Client Services or Binder Technician environment and be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong technical knowledge of binding authority post placement processes
  • Experience providing oversight, mentoring or informal leadership within a team
  • Understanding of management principles, controls and quality assurance
  • Ability to develop and implement effective internal processes and controls
  • Professional negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to build credibility and instil confidence with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to compile and interpret financial data to support decision making
