Registered Nurse Neonatal

We are looking for Band 5 registered nurses who have experience in the care of preterm and sick infants. The role requires reliability, flexibility, motivation and a commitment to delivering high quality care to babies and families.

The Neonatal Unit at Royal Lancaster Infirmary is a 10 bedded Level 2 unit which includes one intensive care cot, two high dependency cots and seven special care cots, caring for babies from 28 weeks gestation. Infants Main duties of the job

  • Provide nursing care to preterm and sick infants in a Level 2 and Level 1 environment.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, compassionate care.
  • Respond rapidly to emergency situations and prioritise care effectively.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate care plans for infants and families.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and basic IT systems usage.
  • Support professional development and maintain relevant accreditations.
Person Specification Education and Qualifications
  • Registered Children's Nurse, Registered Midwife or Registered Nurse.
  • Relevant qualification in Speciality.
  • Newborn Life Support certification.
Experience
  • Pre registration experience working with babies and children.
  • Experience within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience establishing effective communication with families and staff.
Skills, Ability and Knowledge
  • Demonstrable appropriate skills in nursing for babies and children.
  • Basic life support skills.
  • Ability to respond rapidly to emergency situations.
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Willingness to advance competencies.
