We are looking for Band 5 registered nurses who have experience in the care of preterm and sick infants. The role requires reliability, flexibility, motivation and a commitment to delivering high quality care to babies and families.
The Neonatal Unit at Royal Lancaster Infirmary is a 10 bedded Level 2 unit which includes one intensive care cot, two high dependency cots and seven special care cots, caring for babies from 28 weeks gestation. Infants Main duties of the job
- Provide nursing care to preterm and sick infants in a Level 2 and Level 1 environment.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, compassionate care.
- Respond rapidly to emergency situations and prioritise care effectively.
- Plan, implement and evaluate care plans for infants and families.
- Maintain accurate documentation and basic IT systems usage.
- Support professional development and maintain relevant accreditations.
- Registered Children's Nurse, Registered Midwife or Registered Nurse.
- Relevant qualification in Speciality.
- Newborn Life Support certification.
- Pre registration experience working with babies and children.
- Experience within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience establishing effective communication with families and staff.
- Demonstrable appropriate skills in nursing for babies and children.
- Basic life support skills.
- Ability to respond rapidly to emergency situations.
- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care.
- Ability to work as an effective team member.
- Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation.
- Basic IT skills.
- Willingness to advance competencies.
