Glenpark & Teams Medical Services is a busy generalpractice, operating across two sites we offer primary care services to over14,500 patients in Dunston and Teams.
We are currently seeking 3 x part time receptionists to joinour busy team to provide efficient and effective reception services to ourpatients and to support our clinical team.
Interview date: Thursday 18th June 2026
The shift patterns cover:
Post 3: 26 hrs/week-Mon 1.30 pm 6.30 pm / Wed 12 pm 8 pm / Thurs 12.30 pm - 6.30pm / Fri 8.30 am - 4.30 pm

Main duties of the jobYou will be the first point of contact for patients and visitorsand will project a positive and friendly image either in person or via thetelephone.
You will receive, assist and direct patients in accessingthe appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficientand effective manner.
You will also undertake a variety of administrative dutiesto assist in the smooth running of the practices and support the practice teamefficiently and effectively.
About usGlenpark & Teams Medical Services have been servingthe population of Dunston, Teams and the surrounding area for over 100 years.
The Practices are situated with easy access to the A1 andthe Metro Centre.
The Practice boundary covers Dunston, Whickham, Swalwell,Lobley Hill, Teams and some of Bensham.
Job responsibilitiesThe below list is not exhaustive but contains some of themain duties of the role:
- Greet patients and visitors to the practice andmaintain a welcoming disposition at all times
- Answer all telephone calls in a courteous mannerand deal with them appropriately
- Answer general enquiries and explain surgerypractice and procedures.
- Navigate patients to the most appropriateprofessional
- Register new NHS patients and temporary residentsand supply all new patients with the essential information about the practice
- Receive and process requests for repeatprescriptions
- Record and pass on electronic messages todistrict Nurses, Health Visitors and other attached staff where appropriate
- Arrange follow-up appointments with doctors,nurses and other health professionals
- Respond to the needs of GPs and Nurses to enableefficient clinics and home visits
- Input and extract information from the Practice computersystem, updating records as required
- Monitor and check tasks and workflows
- Ensure building security open and lock upprocedures
- GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics
- Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other MS Office applications
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload.
- Good time management skills and able to work to deadlines. Availability to cover sickness & holidays.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Proven experience of working with patients/public.
- Experience of handling confidential information.
- Practical experience of working within a team.
- Experience of working in a General Practice or NHS environment.
- Knowledge of EMIS Web clinical systems.
