Job Description

Part Time receptionist working in a busy doctors surgery at a 3 partner, 1 salaried GP practice in Mumbles, Swansea.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide general assistance to the practice team and present a positive, friendly image to patients and visitors, in person and by telephone.
  • Receive, assist and direct patients to the appropriate healthcare professional in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Perform administrative duties to support smooth practice operations, including handling appointments, telephone requests, mail, and messages.
  • Process repeat prescriptions, record patient data and ensure accurate entry into the electronic health record.
  • Maintain reception area, notice boards, and leaflet dispensers; keep kitchen area clean.
  • Ensure building security, alarm system and health & safety procedures are followed.
  • Provide clerical assistance to clinical staff and LHB staff as required, including filing, photocopying, scanning and ordering stationery.
  • Cover for absent colleagues during sickness or holiday absence.
  • Confidentially handle patient information in compliance with GDPR and practice information governance policies.
Qualifications
  • Essential: GCSE in English; computer literacy including basic MS Office; ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Desirable: Experience with EMIS clinical information system, knowledge of READ codes, and use of Microsoft Outlook.
