Job Description
Part Time receptionist working in a busy doctors surgery at a 3 partner, 1 salaried GP practice in Mumbles, Swansea.
Key Responsibilities- Provide general assistance to the practice team and present a positive, friendly image to patients and visitors, in person and by telephone.
- Receive, assist and direct patients to the appropriate healthcare professional in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Perform administrative duties to support smooth practice operations, including handling appointments, telephone requests, mail, and messages.
- Process repeat prescriptions, record patient data and ensure accurate entry into the electronic health record.
- Maintain reception area, notice boards, and leaflet dispensers; keep kitchen area clean.
- Ensure building security, alarm system and health & safety procedures are followed.
- Provide clerical assistance to clinical staff and LHB staff as required, including filing, photocopying, scanning and ordering stationery.
- Cover for absent colleagues during sickness or holiday absence.
- Confidentially handle patient information in compliance with GDPR and practice information governance policies.
- Essential: GCSE in English; computer literacy including basic MS Office; ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Desirable: Experience with EMIS clinical information system, knowledge of READ codes, and use of Microsoft Outlook.
- Pleasant, helpful and effective telephone and face to face manner.
- Organisational skills and ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
