Your new role
As a Purchase Ledger Clerk, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth processing of supplier invoices. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Your key responsibilities include:

  • Process high volumes of purchase invoices, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Match, batch, and code invoices in line with company procedures
  • Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies
  • Prepare and process weekly and monthly payment runs
  • Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to resolve invoice queries
  • Assist with month-end reporting and ledger maintenance
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the accounting system

  • What you'll need to succeed
  • Proven experience in a purchase ledger or accounts payable role
  • Strong numerical and data entry skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Desirable:
    • Experience in the construction industry or working with CIS (Construction Industry Scheme)
    • Familiarity with Sage, QuickBooks, or similar finance systems
